Comfort Quilts/Rugs

Made for children who are victims of or have witnessed crime

Quilts/Rugs that are hand made with love are to be donated to Manning Great Lakes Area command, which will be distributed to children who have endured trauma due to being directly affected by crime and or domestic violence, for comfort and reassurance. Following consultation with the Liason Officer for the Domestic Violence Unit of the Manning area which covers all of the Manning Valley including Forster, Tuncurry and Hallidays Point as well as all of Taree and surrounds a project undertaking the distribution of Comfort Qults/Rugs will now be undertaken by the Lions Club of Hallidays Point. The project is now well underway with many local groups including Knitters, Crocheters, Quilters, Embroiderers and Craft Groups enthusiastically embracing the project. Lions Club will fund the cost of materials to the various groups many of whom have suggested that they will also pool some of their materials to make quilts/rugs for what they consider a worthy cause. If you wish to assist on the project or require any further information please contact  the project co-ordinator:  Maureen Timmins Tel: 0447 920 631 or email: romatimmins@bigpond.com

Hallidays Point Blokes Shed

The Blokes Shed meets from 10.am to 3pm every Wednesday and Thursday in the shed behind the Community Church in Diamond Head Road. Most men attend at least one day a week but all are welcome to meet on both days. 'Blokes' bring their own morning tea and lunch and at this time we discuss our projects as well as any other issues of local or even world importance! Some say these discussions are the most valuable thing we do!!!!!

The shed is equipped with a large range of wood working tools. Members can use these facilities to do projects for themselves or do other work for local residents such as repairs etc. Of late we have carried out work for Bush Fire Brigade, The School, Probus, Church and Lions as well as for local residents. Each year we prepare items for school children to assemble at the library during school holidays. We charge for material used and ask for a donation for the wotk carried out.

Members pay $2 per week which covers insurance and rent for the site. All the profit we make goes back to our Lions Club.

We welcome new members just drop in for a chat to see what we are all about on any one of the two days (Wed or Thurs). If you have work you wish us to undertake or other woodworking issues please drop in or phone Jack McDonald on 0411 481 892. The 'Blokes' look forward to meeting you.
